Create design onlineAbout Neo™ Red Improved Celosia
Neo™ Red Improved is a red-flowered crested celosia bred for upright stems and substantial combs. PanAmerican Seed lists the exact selection as Celosia cristata ‘Balcelnedi’, with 28–40-inch stems, spring-through-summer flowering, and a sunny exposure; the Neo line is intended to provide usable stems over a longer production season. [PanAmerican Seed’s product profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/166302920004463/celosia-neo-red/) also notes the larger flowers and thicker comb compared with Bombay.
## Garden Use
The tall stems make this selection useful as a back-of-border accent, a block of seasonal color, or a cut flower for fresh arrangements. Its rich red combs pair well with fine-textured grasses and simpler daisy-shaped annual flowers. The listed 28–40-inch mature range crosses three feet, so allow vertical room rather than treating it as a short bedding celosia.
## Siting and Care
Plant in full sun and well-drained soil after frost danger has passed. Celosia grows well in many soils but dislikes heavy clay and wet roots. Regular watering helps maintain flower and foliage quality; let excess water drain, especially in pots. [North Carolina Extension’s celosia guide](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/celosia/) covers general celosia siting and care.
## Maintenance
Cut stems for arrangements as the combs develop. Remove faded flowers if you want to reduce reseeding, and keep young plants evenly watered while they establish. PanAmerican’s production timing is for greenhouse growers; outdoor flowering and stem size vary with climate and growing conditions.
