About Sunday™ Cherry Celosia

Sunday™ Cherry is a plume celosia selection with cherry-toned flower heads and tall, upright stems. PanAmerican Seed lists it at 28–40 inches tall and about 5 inches wide, with full plumes and strong stems suited to cut-flower work. ## Landscape use Grow this selection in a cut-flower bed or use its upright plumes as a vertical accent in a sunny annual border. The breeder recommends the Sunday series for greenhouse or high-tunnel production and identifies the stems for bouquet filler, line, or volume. Mississippi State Extension also describes Sunday as a useful backyard cut flower and a textural addition to mixed bouquets. ## Flowers and season The Cherry selection is identified in the breeder catalogue as ‘Balsuncherim’. Its leaves are slightly larger than those of other Sunday series selections. Plume-type flowers are produced from spring through autumn, with timing affected by light and temperature. ## Siting and culture Choose full sun and a well-drained bed. Maryland Extension recommends rich, deep loamy soil and at least eight hours of sunlight for field-grown celosia. Keep moisture steady during growth; heat tolerance does not eliminate the need for irrigation. ## Maintenance Transplant outdoors after frost danger passes. For fresh arrangements, cut stems when the plumes are fully developed; vase life varies by cultivar. Stems for drying can be stripped of leaves and hung in a dark, well-ventilated place.
