Create design onlineAbout Celway™ Terracotta Celosia
Celway™ Terracotta is a tall, upright wheat celosia with a central spiky plume and smaller side spikes that create a full, branching flower stem. Its terracotta-colored heads bring warm color and vertical form to sunny annual beds and cut-flower plantings. The breeder lists a mature stem height of 40–48 inches and spring through summer flowering.
## Form and use
The [PanAmerican Seed product profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/166305911021679/celway-terracotta-celosia/) identifies Celway™ Terracotta as *Celosia spicata*, code CEL888986, and gives a 40–48-inch height. The [2026–2027 PanAmerican Seed catalog](https://www.panamseed.com/pdf/PAS_2026-2027_Catalog_25769904.pdf) describes the series’ central plume with smaller spikes, strong stems, and use as a cut flower. The [University of Wisconsin–Madison Extension guide](https://hort.extension.wisc.edu/articles/celosia-celosia-spicata/) places the Celway series at 40–48 inches and describes the fuller branching spikes.
## Siting
Grow in full sun and moist, well-drained soil. The Extension guide recommends pinching young plants for a bushier habit; tall plants or exposed stems may need support. Leave room for the upright stems in beds and borders, or cut stems for fresh or dried arrangements.
## Maintenance
Plant after frost or start seed indoors six to eight weeks before the last frost. Cut stems for arrangements as flowers open, or remove spent heads before seed develops where self-sowing is unwanted. Celosia is frost tender; clear plants after frost ends the season.
