Create design onlineAbout Celway™ White Celosia
Celway™ White is an upright wheat celosia grown for tall stems topped by a central spike and smaller branching spikes. Its pale, silvery white to lemon-lime flower heads add a bright vertical accent to annual beds and bouquets. PanAmerican Seed lists the selection at 40–48 inches tall, with spring through summer flowering.
## Form and use
The [PanAmerican Seed product profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/166305911005863/celosia-celway-white/) identifies Celway™ White as *Celosia spicata*, code CEL888988, with upright habit and 40–48-inch height. The breeder notes the central plume and smaller spikes that form a full stem and says White has good field production. [Johnny’s Selected Seeds](https://www.johnnyseeds.com/flowers/celosia/celway-white-celosia-seed-4095.50.html) describes pale lemon-lime blooms on sturdy stems and reports 34–40 inches for its seed-grown crop; the breeder’s range is retained here as the cultivar-specific catalog dimension.
## Siting
Grow in full sun in moist, well-drained soil. The [University of Wisconsin–Madison Extension guide](https://hort.extension.wisc.edu/articles/celosia-celosia-spicata/) recommends pinching young plants to encourage branching and notes that taller plants or windy sites may require staking. Use the stems in fresh or dried arrangements, or place the upright plants toward the back of a sunny annual border.
## Maintenance
Start seed indoors six to eight weeks before the last frost or sow outside after frost danger has passed. Remove flower heads before seed sets if self-sowing is unwanted. Celosia is frost tender, so treat it as an annual in cold climates.
