Create design onlineAbout Celtic Pride® Siberian Cypress
Celtic Pride® Siberian Cypress is an evergreen groundcover shrub with fine, fern-like green foliage that turns russet-purple in winter. Proven Winners describes it as a compact selection with a mature height of 12–36 inches, a spread of 4–5 feet and improved resistance to tip dieback.
## Characteristics
This low-growing shrub keeps its foliage through the year and adds winter color as the leaves take on russet-purple tones. The developer lists it for groundcover, foundation plantings and mass plantings, and reports that deer leave it alone.
## Growing
Plant in well-drained, moist soil in part sun to sun; the developer says it also tolerates light shade and dry conditions once established. Its listed USDA hardiness range is 2–7. Allow room for the 4–5-foot spread when using it as a groundcover, and avoid planting where water remains around the roots.
## Maintenance
Proven Winners says pruning is seldom needed, though the plant can be trimmed to shape in spring.
