Create design onlineAbout Amethyst Snow Cornflower
Amethyst Snow is carried as a named Centaurea montana selection. Mountain bluet is a clump-forming perennial with fringed flowerheads, and species-level guidance offers a useful starting point for siting and care while preserving the named selection's identity ([NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/centaurea-montana/)).
## Garden Use
Use it in a cottage border, cutting garden, meadow edge, or naturalized planting where the perennial clump can settle in. NC State gives mountain bluet a general size range of 1 to 2 feet tall and 1 to 1.5 feet wide; selection-specific growth can vary. Full sun and well-drained soil suit the species, which tolerates dry to medium moisture and poorer soils. The flowering display is strongest in late spring and summer, with the exact flower color depending on the named plant.
## Maintenance
Deadhead after the first flush to reduce seed spread and encourage possible later flowers. Divide established clumps every two to three years to maintain vigor and manage their spread. Remove unwanted seedlings where the plant is not intended to naturalize.
