Pretty Betsy is a named Centranthus ruber selection grown for rosy-red to pink flowers in dense clusters above fleshy foliage. The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/135504/centranthus-ruber-pretty-betsy/details) identifies the exact selection and reports a long flowering season, while [Old Dairy Nursery](https://olddairynursery.com/products/centranthus-ruber-pretty-betsy) gives selection-specific color, size, and growing information.
## Site and size
Choose a sunny, well-drained position; sandy or gravelly soil is suitable, and the plant also tolerates part shade in nursery guidance. Published mature height is about 24–36 inches and spread about 18–24 inches. Other references give somewhat broader height or spread ranges, so regard those dimensions as approximate; the existing catalog points are retained within the selection-specific seller range.
## Garden use
The clusters bring color from late spring into summer, with timing extending later under suitable conditions. Use it in a mixed border or cutting garden, leaving enough space for a branching clump. Its rosy tones work well with silver foliage, grasses, and other warm-season perennials.
## Maintenance
This selection can self-seed. Remove spent flower heads before seeds mature when you want to limit volunteers, and cut back untidy stems after flowering.
