About Katsura Tree

Native to Japan and China, this deciduous tree features a dense, rounded habit, reaching up to 60 feet in cultivation. Its heart-shaped foliage emerges reddish-purple, matures to a bluish-green, and turns brilliant gold or orange in autumn. A unique characteristic is the scent of fallen leaves, which smell like caramel or burnt sugar. It thrives in moist, well-drained, acidic soils in full sun to part shade, though it requires protection from harsh winds and drought.
