Cascading Hearts is a weeping selection of eastern redbud with a rounded canopy of arching branches and heart-shaped leaves. Pink-magenta flowers open along the bare stems in early spring, followed by reddish new foliage that matures to deep green ([USDA GRIN-Global](https://npgsweb.ars-grin.gov/gringlobal/accessiondetail?id=2152267), [SiteOne](https://www.siteone.com/en/82455b-cercis-canadensis-cascading-hearts-eastern-redbud/p/820422)).
## Size and Form
Allow room for a crown about 8 feet tall and 10 feet wide. Its cascading outline makes it useful as a specimen near a patio, lawn edge, or entry where the branch form can be seen. The cultivar’s original plant patent describes the characteristic weeping habit and distinguishes it from upright redbuds ([US Plant Patent PP18,528](https://patents.google.com/patent/USPP18528P2/en)).
## Site and Seasonal Interest
Plant in full sun to filtered shade with moderately moist, well-drained soil. Flowering is most visible before leaf-out; summer foliage is green, and leaves turn yellow in autumn. Avoid waterlogged soil and allow space around the crown rather than crowding its low branches ([SiteOne](https://www.siteone.com/en/82455b-cercis-canadensis-cascading-hearts-eastern-redbud/p/820422)).
## Maintenance
Water regularly during establishment, then adjust irrigation to rainfall and soil drainage. Remove dead or damaged branches and make any needed shaping cuts after flowering, keeping the cascading structure intact.
