Blue Weeping Alaska Cedar is an evergreen conifer with a strong central leader, outward-bowing branches, and soft blue-green foliage. Its graceful weeping outline makes it a specimen tree, while its eventual size calls for open space around the crown.
## Form and size
The Morton Arboretum identifies the blue form as ‘Glauca Pendula’ and describes ‘Pendula’ Alaska cedar as about 25–30 feet tall and 10–12 feet wide. Those mature measurements are more reliable for siting than the smaller existing width estimate. [Morton Arboretum](https://mortonarb.org/plant-and-protect/trees-and-plants/alaska-cedar/) Utah State University also describes the blue weeping form as having blue undertones on its weeping branches. ## Growing conditions
Plant in full sun to partial shade with consistently moist, well-drained soil. This species is native to moist Pacific coastal habitats and is sensitive to drought; protect it from prolonged drying, especially during establishment. ## Maintenance
Allow room for the mature spread and water during dry periods. Remove dead or damaged growth as needed, and avoid routine shearing that would obscure the natural weeping form.
