Night Light® Hinoki cypress, Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Conschlecht’ PP24,666, is a compact-branching evergreen with soft, fan-shaped foliage and bright golden tips. The foliage deepens to bronze as cold weather approaches, so the tree contributes color and structure beyond the growing season.
## Cultivar and scale
Monrovia lists this selection at 4–5 feet tall and wide after ten years, with older plants potentially reaching about 30 feet tall and 15 feet wide. Its long-term form can therefore outgrow a small foundation bed. Use it as a specimen, screen, or windbreak only where the eventual canopy has room.
## Siting and soil
A sunny site brings out the golden foliage. Plant in enriched, well-drained soil; avoid locations that stay soggy. Water deeply during the first growing season and then keep the soil evenly moist, allowing the surface to dry slightly between watering. The exact cultivar is rated for USDA zones 5–8 by Monrovia.
## Maintenance
Keep a clear, natural branching structure and remove damaged twigs as needed. Avoid routine shearing, which can flatten the layered sprays. In exposed sites, monitor moisture during dry spells and check that nearby paving or walls do not restrict the mature root area. [Monrovia’s Night Light profile](https://www.monrovia.com/night-light-hinoki-cypress.html) gives cultivar-specific size, siting, and care information.
