About Blonde Flamethrower Palm

Blonde Flamethrower is a single-trunked New Caledonian palm grown for its broad pinnate leaves and yellow-green crownshaft. New leaves usually emerge red, creating a brief flush of color above the crown. ## Identity and appearance The specialist nursery name “Blonde Flamethrower” is used for palms sold as *Chambeyronia macrocarpa* ‘hookeri’. Kew accepts *Chambeyronia macrocarpa* var. *hookeri* and lists *Chambeyronia hookeri* as its synonym. The [True Green Nursery profile](https://truegreennursery.com.au/product/blonde-flamethrower-chambeyronia-hookeri/) describes the yellow crownshaft, broad thick leaflets, red new leaf, and growth to about 5 m. ## Placement and growing conditions Use as an architectural focal point in a warm tropical or subtropical landscape. The nursery recommends rich, well-drained soil and a position from full sun to partial shade. As a palm from humid New Caledonian habitats, it benefits from even moisture and drainage rather than prolonged drying or waterlogged soil. Its eventual stature makes it more appropriate for a spacious garden than a small interior room. ## Maintenance Water consistently during establishment and dry spells, allowing excess water to drain freely. Protect young plants from cold and harsh exposure. Keep the crown clear of accumulated debris and remove only fully dead leaves; avoid cutting into the trunk or crownshaft.
