Chelone lyonii ‘Armtipp02’, marketed as Tiny Tortuga®, is a compact turtlehead with upright stems above a dense mound of thick, dark green foliage. Its large, dark pink hooded flowers open in late summer and can continue into early fall, adding late-season color to moist borders and waterside gardens.
## Form and seasonal interest
The [Perennials.com profile](https://www.perennials.com/plants/chelone-lyonii-tiny-tortuga.html) identifies Tiny Tortuga as ‘Armtipp02’ and lists 12–16 inches tall by 8–10 inches wide. It describes flowering from late summer into mid-fall, with deep pink blooms and deep green leaves. [Valley Nursery](https://valleynurseryutah.com/tiny-tortuga-turtlehead-600956.html) independently lists this selection at 12 by 8 inches and notes blooms from late summer into October.
## Siting
Grow in full sun or partial shade. The selection prefers moist or wet soil but adapts to average border conditions; use it near pond edges, in rain-fed borders, or in containers kept evenly watered. The cultivar profile lists USDA zones 3–9. [Kew](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:801552-1) accepts the species and places it in Plantaginaceae.
## Maintenance
Keep the root zone moist, especially during active growth. Divide established clumps in spring if they become crowded, and remove spent flower stems when a tidier appearance is desired.
