Create design onlineAbout Oxeye Daisy
Oxeye daisy is an upright, rhizomatous perennial with white ray petals around a yellow center, flowering from May through August, as described by [North Carolina State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/leucanthemum-vulgare/). The accepted name is Leucanthemum vulgare; [Kew Plants of the World Online](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:30296198-2/general-information) recognizes it as an accepted Asteraceae species, while Chrysanthemum leucanthemum is an older synonym.
## Growth and siting
Plants typically grow 1–3 feet tall and 1–2 feet wide. They flower in sunny places and tolerate some afternoon shade, with well-drained soil ranging from medium-moist to dry. The extension profile gives USDA Zones 3–8. Rhizomes and seed can let oxeye daisy move beyond a bed, so allow room and monitor its edges, particularly outside its native range.
## Maintenance
Deadhead to encourage continued flowering, and divide clumps every two to three years to maintain vigor. Check spreading edges regularly where it could displace other desired plants, and choose another species where naturalizing growth would not fit the site.
