Create design onlineAbout Cheryl™ Sparkling Yellow Chrysanthemum
Cheryl™ Sparkling Yellow is Syngenta Flowers’ fall-flowering garden mum, with clear yellow / gold blooms. The breeder describes the Cheryl™ color family as vigorous in warm production conditions and rates this selection compact-to-medium in vigor.
## Landscape Use and Seasonal Interest
Use the yellow flowers to brighten an autumn container or a small group at the front of a border. Syngenta recommends the plant for small, medium, and large pots, and identifies it as a fall-flowering garden mum. The product record does not give this cultivar a hardiness-zone rating, so its outdoor winter performance is not established there.
## Siting and Soil
Choose full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Garden mums flower in fall; in warmer locations they can benefit from protection from intense afternoon sun. The [Syngenta cultivar record](https://www.syngentaflowers.com/ams/product/flower/70018867) confirms the cultivar, yellow / gold color, flowering season, vigor, and container uses. [NC State Extension](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/chrysanthemum-x-morifolium/common-name/mum/) provides general siting and landscape guidance.
## Maintenance
Keep the root zone moist during active growth and allow water to drain. For a fuller garden-grown plant, NC State recommends three cutbacks during spring and summer, with the final cut around mid-August. Stop before flower buds form, and adjust timing to the local season.
