Summer Sunset™ is a Syngenta garden mum selected for multicolored daisy flowers and a fall display. Syngenta identifies this exact selection as medium vigor, full sun, pink/lavender, and fall flowering; its 2022 garden mum catalog notes shades of pink that develop yellow and white as the flowers mature, with best color outdoors. ## Garden use
Plant this named selection in a sunny border or container for late-season color. Its daisy form gives the display an open flower shape, while the changing pink, yellow, and white tones pair well with other autumn blooms. Syngenta lists container recommendations from small pots through hanging baskets.
## Growing conditions
Choose full sun and moist, well-drained soil; Illinois Extension recommends at least six hours of sun for mums and advises avoiding low, poorly drained sites. Water during dry spells. Mums flower in response to lengthening nights, and nearby outdoor lighting can interrupt darkness and delay flowering. ## Maintenance
Spring planting gives mums more time to establish before winter. For plants being overwintered, leave dormant stems standing through winter and add mulch after the ground begins to freeze; remove old growth after new growth resumes. Pinch growing tips when shoots are about six inches long, then repeat once or twice before early summer for a bushier shape. Water if the soil dries during the growing season.
