Wanda™ Purple is Syngenta’s Chrysanthemum morifolium Garden Mum selection 70021410, with a purple and dark-pink color group and fall flowering. Its product page lists full sun, medium vigor, and hanging baskets or small through large pots among the recommended containers. ## Placement and season
Use this named selection in a sunny container or fall border, where its deep color can contrast with white or bronze flowers. The breeder says the Wanda group works in natural-season and controlled blackcloth programs; commercial timing information describes production, not an exact outdoor bloom date for every climate. Iowa State Extension recommends spring planting for garden mums in Iowa and notes that flowering and winter establishment vary by planting time. Treat those dates as regional advice and choose a site with good drainage. [Iowa State growing guidance](https://yardandgarden.extension.iastate.edu/how-to/growing-chrysanthemums-iowa)
## Maintenance
Water consistently during establishment and during extended dry periods, while avoiding waterlogged soil. Pinch young growth in spring and early summer to encourage a fuller plant; in Iowa, the extension guide recommends stopping by early July because later pinching may postpone flowers. Adjust timing to local conditions. Remove faded flower heads for a tidy display, and divide older clumps every few years if they become crowded. Syngenta does not list a USDA hardiness zone for this cultivar, so use local winter guidance before expecting it to return after a cold season.
