Chuniophoenix nana is a small, clustering fan palm from Hainan in southern China and northern Vietnam. Its slender stems and compact, divided leaves make it one of the smaller members of the genus.
## Form and habitat
A taxonomic revision records clustered stems 0.6–1.5 metres tall, usually around 1 metre, with narrow fan leaves divided into four to seven segments. It grows in lowland rainforest or disturbed forest. The related name Chuniophoenix humilis is treated as a synonym in that revision.
## Light and cultivation
Palm-growing references describe C. nana as suited to shade or part shade and note that it can be grown in a pot or conservatory. The genus is associated with warm, wet summers and cooler, milder, drier winters. Choose a sheltered position with filtered light, or use a container that can be moved to a protected site when conditions become too cold.

## Maintenance
In a pot, use a free-draining mix and water thoroughly when the upper mix begins to dry. Allow space for new shoots to join the clump, and avoid placing the plant where its leaf fans will be pressed against a wall or passage.
