About Midknight Valencia Orange

Midknight Valencia is a sweet orange selection known for medium-large, nearly seedless fruit. The UCR Citrus Variety Collection describes the fruit as somewhat oblong and of excellent quality, with medium-late maturity; its Riverside collection season is March through July. ## Fruit and selection UCR notes that more than one clone has circulated under the Midknight name, so fruit and tree traits can vary among sources. The current record retains its existing MidKnight Valencia selection identity. See the [UCR cultivar entry](https://citrusvariety.ucr.edu/crc3955) for the collection’s description and observations. ## Growing conditions Citrus grows best in full sun and well-drained soil. Water young trees regularly while they establish and protect them where freezes occur regularly. Harvest timing depends on local climate; [UF/IFAS home citrus guidance](https://gardeningsolutions.ifas.ufl.edu/plants/edibles/fruits/citrus/) explains siting, care, and harvest practices. ## Maintenance Remove rootstock shoots below the graft and avoid unnecessary pruning of the fruiting canopy. Follow local extension guidance for fertilizer and pest management.
