Perkins Pink is the pale pink-flowered selection of American yellowwood, raised from a tree at Perkins School for the Blind and distributed under the cultivar name ‘Perkins Pink’; older references also use ‘Rosea’. Its pendulous flower clusters are a distinctive feature, although the tree may not flower every year. ## Site and size
Grow in full sun or partial shade and avoid waterlogged soil. Sources give substantially different mature-height estimates for this exact selection: 20–25 ft at the Morton Arboretum, 30–50 ft at Missouri Botanical Garden, and 30–60 ft at Bower & Branch. Allow generous room and use the local site and growing conditions to plan its mature crown. ## Maintenance
Water regularly while establishing. Prune in summer; yellowwood can bleed sap after winter or spring cuts.
