About Silver Torch

Cleistocactus hyalacanthus is a striking columnar cactus native to the high-altitude regions of Argentina and Bolivia. It grows as a shrubby cluster of erect stems branching from the base, reaching heights of three to four feet. The stems are densely covered in fine, glass-like white spines that create a shimmering, fuzzy texture. In spring and summer, tubular burgundy or orange-red flowers emerge horizontally from the sides, attracting hummingbirds. This drought-tolerant succulent thrives in full sun to light shade and requires gritty, well-drained soil.
