Create design onlineAbout Double Blue Clematis
Diamantina™ is the Raymond Evison selection Evipo 039, a repeat-flowering double clematis in the Regal collection. Its lavender-blue to mauve blooms open from late spring into summer, with another flowering period in early autumn; the layered flowers can hold for several weeks.
## Flowers and placement
The [breeder’s Diamantina profile](https://www.raymondevisonclematis.com/products/diamantina) identifies Evipo039, describes repeat-flowering double blooms, and lists a height of 5–6 ft with flowering in late spring, mid-summer, and early autumn. It recommends the plant for small gardens, containers, or growth through wall-trained shrubs. The [RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/272608/clematis-evipo039/details) confirms the code and gives a mature height range of 1.5–2.5 m with a spread of 0.5–1 m. The RHS spread range is 0.5–1 m, while a U.S. grower catalog gives a 3–6 ft width range for this cultivar.
## Siting
Plant in a sunny or partly shaded position, avoiding a north-facing site, and keep the root area cool with moist, well-drained soil. A sturdy support lets this deciduous climber thread through shrubs or climb a trellis; a large container is also suitable.
## Maintenance
In late winter or early spring, reduce the top growth by about one third as the breeder recommends. Water deeply during dry spells and keep container compost from drying out during active growth.
