Create design onlineAbout Giselle™ Pale Purple-Pink Clematis
Giselle™ is a free-flowering, compact clematis with dusky purple-pink blooms. Raymond Evison lists the exact Evipo051 selection at 4–5 ft tall, flowering from late spring into early autumn, and hardy in USDA Zones 4–9.
## Flowers and placement
The breeder describes a long flowering season and recommends partial shade; the RHS register records the flowers as dusky purple-pink with a paler bar. Grow Giselle on an obelisk or trellis, beside an arch, or near a rose where its stems can climb through the support. The breeder also recommends it for containers and patios. Keep the existing 1 m spread entry as provisional because the exact breeder page provides height only.
## Growing conditions
Choose a position with partial shade and keep the root zone cool and moist. The [RHS clematis guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/clematis/growing-guide) recommends fertile, moist but well-drained soil and a support that climbing stems can twine around. Container plants need closer moisture checks than in-ground plants.
## Maintenance
Raymond Evison recommends reducing all stems to about 6 inches in late winter or early spring. Guide and tie the young shoots gently so they cover the support evenly, and maintain moisture through dry weather.
