About Edda™ Bicolor Blue Purple Clematis

Edda™ is a compact, repeat-flowering clematis with lavender-purple flowers marked by a darker red-purple central bar. Raymond Evison lists the exact Evipo074 selection at 3–4 ft tall, flowering from late spring to late summer and hardy in USDA Zones 4–9. ## Flowers and placement The compact habit suits a small garden, balcony, patio, hanging basket, or container trained on an obelisk. The breeder notes that new stems develop while the first flowers open, giving a second crop; the RHS Clematis Register also describes repeat flowering from late spring into early autumn. The exact breeder profile gives height but no mature spread, so retain the existing 0.8 m spread provisionally pending direct evidence. ## Growing conditions Edda can be planted in a range of positions according to the breeder. Provide a support for its climbing stems and keep the root zone cool and moist in fertile, well-drained soil. The [RHS clematis guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/clematis/growing-guide) gives general planting and watering advice for climbing clematis. ## Maintenance Raymond Evison recommends cutting stems to about 6 inches in late winter or early spring. Water container plants regularly as the compost dries more quickly than garden soil, and guide new growth over the support.
