Create design onlineAbout Samaritan Jo™ White and Purple Clematis
Samaritan Jo™ is a climbing clematis with silvery-white, pointed flowers edged in purple and marked by a pale central bar. Raymond Evison lists the exact Evipo075 selection at 4–5 ft tall, flowering from early summer to mid-autumn and hardy in USDA Zones 4–9.
## Flowers and placement
The RHS Clematis Register describes semi-double flowers with narrow purple margins, while the breeder notes that the color may fade slightly in direct sun. Grow Samaritan Jo on a garden support or in a container for a patio or deck. Its current numeric height of 1.5 m and 4–5 ft label agree with the breeder’s range. The breeder page does not provide mature spread, so retain the existing 0.8 m spread provisionally pending direct evidence.
## Growing conditions
Choose an aspect that suits the garden and protect the root zone from drying. The [RHS clematis guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/clematis/growing-guide) recommends cool, moist roots, fertile well-drained soil, and a suitable support for climbing stems. Container plants require more frequent moisture checks.
## Maintenance
Raymond Evison recommends removing the top growth to about 6 inches in late winter or early spring. Tie young stems loosely to the support and water during dry periods. The selection-specific hardiness range is USDA Zones 4–9.
