Create design onlineAbout Nubia™ Red Clematis
Nubia™ is a compact, deep-red clematis identified as Evipo079(n) on the [breeder’s product page](https://www.raymondevisonclematis.com/products/nubia). Its flowers have strong red tepals around a dark center, and the breeder lists mature height at 3–4 ft. with repeat flowering from early summer into early autumn.
## Flowers and season
The vivid red petals and dark center create a high-contrast flower on a compact climber. The breeder describes an early-summer flowering period followed by a late-summer to early-autumn flush. Its listed 3–4 ft. height makes it a smaller option among large-flowered clematis.
## Siting and support
Nubia is recommended for patio containers, pots and planters, and can also grow in a garden border. Give the climbing stems a support and keep the root zone cool and moist in fertile, well-drained soil, following the [RHS clematis growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/clematis/growing-guide). The breeder lists U.S. hardiness zones 4–9.
## Maintenance
The breeder advises cutting all stems down to about 6 inches in late winter or early spring. Water container plants regularly during active growth, and avoid leaving the root zone waterlogged.
