About Clair de Lune™ Blue Moon White Clematis

Clair de Lune™ is the trade name for the Evison/Poulsen clematis selection Evirin, formerly introduced under the name Blue Moon, as described by the [breeder’s Guernsey nursery](https://www.guernsey-clematis.com/index.php/the-gardini-collection/item/47-clair-de-lune-evirin-n). Its white flowers are suffused with pale lilac that deepens at the wavy tepal edges, with dark red anthers; flowers reach about 6–7 inches across and the listed height is 8–10 ft. ## Flowers and season This compact, free-flowering cultivar has a late-spring to early-summer flush and flowers again in late summer to early autumn. The breeder’s nursery notes that the lilac coloring holds best in shade and that later flowers tend to be darker. ## Siting and support Clair de Lune is recommended for small gardens, patios, containers and cut-flower use. Provide a support for the climbing stems and keep the roots cool in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, as described in the [RHS clematis guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/clematis/growing-guide). The breeder’s nursery lists U.S. hardiness zones 4–9. ## Maintenance Water consistently during active growth and allow excess water to drain. Prune according to the clematis flowering group, removing dead or damaged stems before spring growth and avoiding hard pruning unless that group calls for it, following the [RHS growing guide](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/clematis/growing-guide).
