About New Love Clematis Shrub

Clematis heracleifolia ‘New Love’ is a compact, upright, non-climbing perennial clematis selected for clusters of fragrant blue to violet-blue flowers. It blooms on new growth from midsummer into early autumn, adding color to borders after many spring-flowering plants have finished. [Plantipp](https://plantipp.eu/en/Plants/clematis-heracleifolia-new-lovepbr) profiles the selection; the [Polish Nursery Association](https://e-katalogroslin.pl/plants/1771%2Cpowojnik-new-love_clematis-new-love) records its size and flowering period, and [Sooner Plant Farm](https://www.soonerplantfarm.com/plant/clematis-new-love) lists it as Clematis heracleifolia ‘New Love’. ## Flowers and placement The small hyacinth-like flowers gather in rounded clusters among broad, toothed, light-green leaves. Plant ‘New Love’ in full sun or partial shade in fertile soil that stays moderately moist while draining freely. Its upright stems do not twine, so use it in a border, among shrubs, or in a container rather than expecting it to climb a support. ## Size and seasonal care Allow roughly 0.75–1 m of height and 0.5–0.6 m of spread. The Polish Nursery Association records flowering from July through September and recommends cutting stems to the ground in spring. Plantipp also notes that this cultivar flowers on new wood and can be cut back to about 10 cm in March. ## Maintenance Water during dry weather, particularly while establishing and when grown in a container. Remove old stems in early spring before new growth develops.
