About Light Pink Clematis

Clematis 'Madame Baron-Veillard' is a deciduous climbing selection with lilac-pink, saucer-shaped flowers. Its 10–15 cm blooms open in the latter half of summer and continue into autumn on the current season’s growth. ## Flowers and siting The [Royal Horticultural Society profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/75185/clematis-madame-baron-veillard-ll/details) identifies the selection as Clematis 'Madame Baron-Veillard' and describes the flower color, size, and late-season timing. It recommends full sun and lists chalk, clay, loam, or sandy soils, kept moist but well drained; its preferred soil reaction is alkaline or neutral. Train the twining leaf stalks onto a sturdy trellis, fence, or other support, leaving room for a substantial climber. ## Seasonal care Because flowers form on current-year growth, keep the support accessible and guide new shoots as they extend. Remove dead or damaged stems when needed, and avoid cutting off healthy new growth that will carry the season’s flowers. Water during prolonged dry weather while the plant establishes, keeping the soil evenly moist without waterlogging. ## Maintenance Check ties and supports as the vine grows, and trim only as needed to keep it within its allotted space. The RHS lists the plant as deciduous, so expect it to lose its leaves during its winter rest.
