CLIO Magenta is a sterile annual cleome with lavender-pink flowers and a compact, mounded form. [Danziger lists it in the CLIO series](https://www.danzigeronline.com/catalog/annuals/clio-magenta/), while [Chicago Botanic Garden records flowering from May through October and a mature size near 20–24 inches tall by 13–16 inches wide](https://www.chicagobotanic.org/plant-information/plant-finder/cleome-hassleriana-clio-magenta-cliotm-magenta-cleome).
## Landscape Use and Seasonal Interest
The extended flowering period brings color through spring, summer, and fall in suitable climates. Use CLIO Magenta in a sunny border, a specimen planting, or a container; its mounded form works well among lower annuals.
## Size and Siting
Plant in full sun after frost danger has passed. The breeder describes an upright-bush growth form, and the garden reference also notes a compact, mounded habit.
## Soil and Water
Average, well-drained soil suits cleome. Water enough to establish the root system, then irrigate during dry periods.
## Maintenance
The CLIO flower is sterile, so it will not produce viable seed. Remove spent plants after frost and leave enough airflow around the foliage in humid weather. Chicago Botanic Garden reports that the flowers attract birds and butterflies and lists hardiness zones 2–11.
