About Campfire Coleus

‘Campfire’ is an upright coleus with vivid orange foliage, selected for strong color in garden beds and containers. Ball FloraPlant describes this cultivar as a medium-upright plant that performs in sun or shade, with a mature height of 14–28 inches and spread of 14–24 inches. See the [Ball FloraPlant cultivar profile](https://www.ballfloraplant.com/Products/Details/?phid=018009899017661) and [NC State Extension’s coleus overview](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/coleus-scutellarioides/). ## Foliage and placement The warm orange leaves stand out in mixed borders, mass plantings, and patio pots. Use it as a foliage accent alongside cooler greens or deep purples. Ball lists both sun and shade exposure; choose a position that suits local heat and monitor leaf color and moisture during the brightest part of summer. ## Growing conditions Plant in well-drained soil and water regularly through warm weather. Container-grown coleus may need more frequent watering than plants in the ground. Coleus is frost-sensitive, so it is generally grown as a seasonal annual where winter temperatures fall below freezing. ## Maintenance Pinch stems early to encourage branching and shape the plant as it fills out. Remove flower spikes if you want to emphasize the leaves, and protect the plant from frost.
