Chocolate Mint is an upright, foliage-first coleus with dark chocolate-toned leaves edged in mint green. It brings a deep accent to beds and large patio pots, where its contrasting margin reads clearly beside lighter foliage.
## Form and color
The exact-selection [PanAmerican Seed GrowerFacts sheet](https://www.panamseed.com/utility/CultureSheetPDF.aspx?pagename=culture.aspx&txtphid=202400001001159&type=Ann) describes dark chocolate foliage finely edged in mint green and lists a mature height of 14–20 inches and spread of 12–14 inches. The [Royal Horticultural Society profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/260928/solenostemon-chocolate-mint/details) also identifies Coleus ‘Chocolate Mint’, describing very dark purple leaves with lime-green margins and a tender habit; its broader size range is noted as a source difference rather than converted into a single measurement.
## Siting
PanAmerican recommends partial sun or sun and says the Premium Sun series is suitable for shade; in low-humidity regions, strong full sun may scorch foliage. Use it as an upright accent in a large container or an in-ground planting. Allow enough room for a 12–14-inch spread.
## Maintenance
Plant after frost in moist, well-drained soil. Water freely while it is growing, but avoid saturated soil. Check container moisture often during warm weather. Pinch young tips and emerging flower spikes when a compact, leafy shape is desired. This tender plant is commonly used as a summer annual; protect it from freezing weather.
