Coleus ‘Inferno’ is an upright foliage plant with vivid orange leaves and bold surface texture. Ball FloraPlant lists a mature range of 14–28 inches high and 14–24 inches wide and notes that its color remains strong in sun or shade.
## Color and placement
The [Ball Seed profile](https://info.ballseed.com/WEBTRACKPLANTINFO.ASPX?PHID=018009899002547&env=P) identifies ‘Inferno’ (UF13-26-7), gives its size and exposure, and notes late-summer flowering that may be very late or absent. Clemson Extension describes ‘Inferno’ as having large, wrinkled, vibrant orange foliage in its [coleus guide](https://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheet/coleus/).
## Growing conditions
Provide good drainage and steady moisture. Clemson Extension recommends watering at planting, keeping new root balls moist without waterlogging, and irrigating when the top inch of soil is dry. Coleus generally performs best in part shade; sun-tolerant cultivars such as ‘Inferno’ can also grow in full sun.
## Maintenance
Pinch young stems to encourage branching, and remove flower spikes if they appear. Coleus is frost tender, so grow it as a seasonal annual outdoors in cold-winter climates.
