Create design onlineAbout Kong Jr.® 'Rose' Coleus
Kong Jr.® ‘Rose’ is a compact-leafed member of the Kong coleus line, with rose-pink, green, and dark red foliage on a well-branched, upright mound. PanAmerican Seed lists a mature size of 18–24 inches tall and 20–35 inches wide, making it useful where a broad foliage accent is welcome.
## Foliage and form
The heart-shaped leaves are smaller than those of standard Kong, while the tidy branching habit suits shade beds, patio planters, and mixed containers. The [Kong Jr. product profile](https://www.panamseed.com/products/018006528004669/coleus-premium-shade-kong-jr-rose/) gives the cultivar’s size and exposure; [SiteOne’s product sheet](https://www.siteone.com/medias/sys_master/PimProductImages/assets/ProductAssets/US/Portfolio/specificationSheet/kong-jr-rose-coleus-portfolio-product-sheet/kong-jr-rose-coleus-portfolio-product-sheet.pdf) describes its rose-pink, green, and dark red leaves.
## Light and placement
Use shade or partial sun for best foliage. This selection is also described as heat tolerant. Coleus can be grown in containers or garden beds; protect it from frost and bring container plants indoors before cold weather.
## Maintenance
Keep the root area evenly moist during establishment and use a well-drained mix. Pinch growing tips to encourage branching. Remove flower spikes if you want the plant’s energy directed toward dense foliage, following [Clemson Extension’s coleus guidance](https://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheet/coleus/).
