Create design onlineAbout Kong® 'Rose' Coleus
Kong® ‘Rose’ is a large-leaved, mounded coleus selected for its distinctive foliage patterns and shade performance. The breeder lists it at 18–20 inches tall and 15–18 inches wide, with an upright, well-branched form for containers and garden plantings.
## Foliage and form
The [Kong Rose product profile](https://www.panamseed.com/Products/018003855004669/coleus-premium-shade-kong-rose/) confirms the cultivar as Kakegawa CE14 and lists its size and exposure. PanAmerican Seed notes that Kong selections have unusually large leaves and work in large containers, mixed plantings, and indoor plant programs.
## Light and placement
Full shade is recommended for the best performance; partial sun is also listed. Coleus leaf color can fade or scorch in strong sun when the cultivar is not suited to it. Use this tender plant for seasonal color in a bed or container and protect it from frost.
## Maintenance
Water thoroughly at planting and maintain even moisture while roots establish, with good drainage to prevent waterlogged soil. Pinch young shoots to promote branching. Remove flower spikes when you want to keep the display focused on foliage. [Clemson Extension’s care guide](https://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheet/coleus/) covers coleus light, water, and pinching.
