Premium Sun Pineapple Surprise Coleus

Premium Sun Pineapple Surprise is a foliage coleus from PanAmerican Seed’s Premium Sun line, with chartreuse and green patterning around deep burgundy centers. It grows upright, flowers very late, and can take full sun in humid regions or shade; the breeder cautions that foliage may scorch in full sun where humidity is low. ## Color and placement PanAmerican Seed reports that the pattern remains stable through the season, though a small share of plants may show darker green and burgundy coloring instead of chartreuse. Its published mature size is 18–26 inches tall and 18–22 inches wide, suited to beds and patio planters. See the [breeder’s plant profile](https://www.panamseed.com/products/018006810033824/coleus-premium-sun-pineapple-surprise/). ## Growing conditions Choose exposure according to local humidity: provide shade in hot, dry air and reserve full sun for more humid conditions. Coleus is tender in frost-prone climates; NC State lists the species for USDA zones 10a–11b, so colder gardens generally use it seasonally or protect containers. ## Maintenance Check containers and beds during warm weather, and trim stems if the plant outgrows its space. The [NC State Plant Toolbox](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/coleus-scutellarioides/) describes coleus as a low-maintenance foliage plant.
