Create design onlineAbout Stained Glassworks™ Kiwi Fern Coleus
Stained Glassworks™ Kiwi Fern is a foliage coleus with narrow, scalloped leaves in dark purple, red, and lemon-lime tones. Lucas Greenhouses lists a 15–20 inch height and 14–20 inch spread, with part-sun exposure and an upright mounding habit.
## Landscape Use
Use it along a border, in a container, or in a mass planting where the contrasting leaf edges can brighten a shaded bed. Lucas also lists edging, window-box, and ground-cover uses. Its foliage color provides interest in spring, summer, and fall.
## Siting
Provide part sun and moist, well-drained soil. Full shade can make Coleus leggy, while intense sun can fade or stress foliage; adjust exposure to local conditions. The [NC State Extension profile](https://plants.ces.ncsu.edu/plants/coleus-scutellarioides/) describes Coleus culture and common pests.
## Maintenance
Water regularly so the soil stays lightly moist without becoming saturated. Pinch stem tips to encourage branching and remove flower spikes when they form to keep attention on the leaves. Watch for aphids, whiteflies, and spider mites.
