Vino Coleus

Vino is an upright coleus with deep wine-colored leaves that grow darker in brighter light. Ball FloraPlant identifies the selection as ‘Balcovino’ and lists it as a vigorous, season-extending variety ([Ball FloraPlant profile](https://www.ballfloraplant.com/Products/Details/?phid=018009871005762)). ## Garden use The dark foliage gives beds and mixed plantings a strong color accent, and the upright habit adds height among lower-growing plants. Ball lists mature dimensions of 18–30 inches tall and 24–28 inches wide. Use it in a sunny or shaded position, adjusting exposure to local conditions; stronger light deepens its wine-colored foliage. ## Growing conditions Coleus is valued mainly for its foliage. Vino holds color through the season and grows quickly, so leave room for its spread. The breeder lists it for both sun and shade; avoid abrupt changes in light when moving plants between locations. ## Maintenance Pinch or trim stems only when shaping is needed. Remove flower spikes if you prefer to keep attention on the foliage, and check soil moisture regularly in containers.
