Wizard® 'Pastel Mix' is a named seed-grown coleus selection in the Wizard® series, grown primarily for foliage. PanAmerican Seed lists Wizard Pastel among the series and describes the group as low-maintenance, basal-branching, and late-flowering, with a series range of 12–14 inches high and 10–12 inches wide. ## Form and Use
The compact Wizard series suits bedding, the front of a border, and small mixed containers where foliage color can be enjoyed up close. Clemson Extension places the Wizard series among coleus that grow best in part shade and describes it as a tidy bedding type. Coleus flowers are small and usually secondary to the colorful leaves, so use this plant for leafy texture and seasonal color rather than a showy flower display. ## Light and Water
Choose part shade or dappled light unless local experience confirms that this selection handles stronger sun. Plant in a well-drained bed or container mix; saturated soil can damage coleus. Water the root ball well after planting, then check the soil and water when the top inch dries. Container-grown coleus may need more frequent watering because pots dry sooner.
## Maintenance
Pinch the growing tips of young plants when a fuller, more branched shape is wanted. Wizard coleus is late-flowering, but if flower spikes appear, remove them to keep attention on foliage. Coleus is tender to frost and is generally grown outdoors as a warm-season annual in climates with freezing winters.
