One in a Melon is an upright coneflower with large, melon-orange flowers and prominent central cones above green foliage. Proven Winners lists it at 24–26 inches tall and 18–20 inches wide, hardy in zones 4–8, with blooms from summer into fall. [See the breeder’s cultivar details](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/echinacea/color-coded-one-melon-coneflower-echinacea-hybrid).
## Placement and season
Plant in full sun to part shade in a border, a roomy container, or a cut-flower garden. The large flowers bring warm color through the main summer display and into fall; their upright stems make the plant useful in the middle of a perennial bed. The breeder lists the flowers as fragrant and notes that they attract bees and butterflies. Deer resistance is also listed.
## Water and soil
Choose well-drained soil and water consistently while the plant establishes. Once established, it is described as drought tolerant, so water less often between rainfall rather than keeping the soil constantly wet. The mature spread is about 18–20 inches; leave enough space for its clumping growth and airflow. Some spent heads can remain standing into winter for seasonal structure and bird interest.
