Color Coded® Orange You Awesome Coneflower

Orange You Awesome is an upright coneflower with tangerine-orange petals and dark cones held above dark green leaves. The breeder lists a mature size of 18–22 inches tall by 16–20 inches wide, with hardiness in zones 4–8 and flowers from summer through fall. [Proven Winners provides the cultivar’s growing and size details](https://www.provenwinners.com/plants/echinacea/color-coded-orange-you-awesome-coneflower-echinacea-hybrid). ## Placement and season Use it near the front or middle of a sunny perennial border, in a container with room for its spread, or in a cut-flower planting. Full sun to part shade supports flowering. The bright orange flowers add a clear focal color through summer and fall, and the breeder lists bees and butterflies among its visitors. It is also listed as deer resistant. ## Water and soil Plant in well-drained soil and water during establishment. Once established, Orange You Awesome is described as drought tolerant; let the soil dry between deeper waterings instead of keeping it saturated. Space plants around 16–20 inches apart so foliage can dry after rain and the clump can reach its listed width. Leaving some flower heads standing into winter can add structure and bird interest. ## Maintenance
