About Silverbush

Silverbush is a small evergreen shrub with silvery leaves and white, funnel-shaped flowers that open from pink-tinged buds. Its compact, spreading form suits sunny gravel gardens and containers where drainage is sharp. ## Foliage and flowers The [Royal Horticultural Society profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/4333/convolvulus-cneorum/details) identifies *Convolvulus cneorum* as a Mediterranean shrub with very silvery foliage and white flowers tinged pink in bud. It lists a mature height and spread of 0.5–1 metre, full sun, and chalk, loam, or sand soils. The RHS recommends a sheltered site and well-drained soil; it also notes that this plant can be grown in a container with a gritty, loam-based compost. ## Growing Give silverbush a warm, sunny position and avoid poorly drained ground. Water through active growth, then keep the compost drier in winter. Its evergreen leaves maintain the silver contrast outside the flowering display. ## Maintenance Prune lightly after flowering to preserve a compact outline, and avoid cutting hard into old wood. Protect container-grown plants from severe cold where needed. The RHS hardiness rating refers to UK conditions and is not converted here to a USDA zone.
