PERMATHREAD™ 'Red Satin' Threadleaf Tickseed

PERMATHREAD™ ‘Red Satin’ is a threadleaf tickseed with dark wine-red flowers and orange centers above fine, dark-green foliage. It grows as a sturdy clump, produces rhizomes, and has sterile flowers; its grower profile notes that deadheading supports rebloom through frost. [Growing Colors](https://growingcolors.com/plant/Coreopsis-Permathread-Red-Satin) and the [plant patent](https://patents.justia.com/patent/PP25736) describe the cultivar and its garden performance. Growing Colors lists a mature range of 15–18 inches tall by 18–22 inches wide and USDA zones 5–9. The patent separately documents Zone 5 survival and reports measurements from its own container and landscape observations, so retain the published ranges rather than treating them as a single fixed size. Choose a sunny site with average soil moisture; the grower lists it as drought resistant once established and suitable for borders or containers. ## Maintenance Grow in full sun and average, well-drained soil. Water during establishment and extended dry spells. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage continued bloom; avoid assuming a precise size beyond the cited ranges.
