About Strawberry Daiquiri® Dogwood

Strawberry Daiquiri® is the trade name for Cornus alba 'Stdazam', a variegated selection introduced by Lake County Nursery. Its mid-green leaves carry irregular creamy-white margins, and young stems take on a strawberry-red color for winter display. The [Lake County Nursery sheet](https://www.lakecountynursery.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Cornus-alba-%E2%80%98Stdazam%E2%80%99-Strawberry-Daiquiri%C2%AE-.pdf) lists a rounded, upright shrub about 5–6 feet tall and wide in Zone 4. ## Seasonal character Creamy-white flowers are followed by white fruit tinted blue. The contrast between the edged foliage and red stems carries the plant from the growing season into winter; the source sheet describes the variegation as uniform. A border, hedge, or foundation planting gives the foliage enough room to show its outline. ## Site and use The breeder describes the selection for landscape use and hedging. Allow for a broad shrub rather than placing it where branches will be constantly crowded. The [International Dendrology Society's Cornus alba account](https://www.treesandshrubsonline.org/articles/cornus/cornus-alba/) identifies 'Stdazam' as the cultivar associated with the Strawberry Daiquiri trade name and notes its white-edged leaves and red winter stems. ## Maintenance After establishment, prune selectively in late winter or early spring to renew colorful young stems and keep the shrub within its space. Remove suckers if the plant spreads beyond the intended hedge or border.
