About Flowering Dogwood Tree

Flowering Dogwood Tree is the June Snow selection of giant dogwood, a deciduous tree with distinctive tiered, horizontal branches. It offers flower clusters in late spring or early summer, dark fruit, and colorful fall foliage, and needs room for a broad crown. ## Form and seasonal interest This selection typically reaches about 30 feet tall and 40 feet wide. Small creamy-white flowers appear in flat-topped clusters in late May or June; abundant blue-black fruit follows, and fall leaves may turn orange-yellow, red, or purple. Allow space for the wide branching pattern and use it as a specimen tree where its layered structure can be seen. Oregon State lists it as hardy to USDA zone 5. ## Maintenance Keep soil evenly moist during establishment and through dry spells. Mulch the root zone to conserve moisture, keeping mulch away from the trunk. Prune only to remove damaged or crossing branches while maintaining the natural tiered form.
