About Firedance™ First Editions® Dogwood

Firedance™ is the cultivar Cornus sericea 'Bailadeline', introduced by Bailey Nurseries under its First Editions® brand. The breeder describes a compact, uniform mound about 3–4 feet tall and 4–5 feet wide, with white spring flowers, white fruit, red-purple fall foliage, and red winter stems. Bailey Nurseries lists USDA Zones 2–7 and notes that the plant tolerates moist conditions. [Bailey Nurseries](https://shop.baileynurseries.com/Product/Detail/4819) ## Landscape Use Use this smaller red-twig dogwood in mixed shrub borders, rain gardens, or slopes where roots help hold soil. The multi-season display shifts from flowers and fruit to autumn foliage and colored stems. ## Growing Conditions Plant in full sun and soil that remains evenly moist, especially during establishment. The breeder's range is wider than some older nursery listings; local exposure, moisture, and pruning can affect mature size. ## Maintenance Keep the winter display bright by removing some of the oldest stems in late winter or early spring, leaving younger canes to develop. Water new shrubs until established and renew mulch as needed to retain soil moisture.
