Sonata™ Carmine Cosmos

Sonata™ Carmine is an upright, compact annual cosmos whose finely divided leaves frame bowl-shaped carmine-red flowers. PanAmerican Seed lists this selection at about 24 inches tall and 12–14 inches wide, while the RHS profile notes summer-to-autumn flowering. [PanAmerican Seed’s product profile](https://www.panamseed.com/products/019501382001003/cosmos-sonata-carmine/) confirms the exact PAS1786 selection, upright habit, size, sun exposure and supplier bloom schedule. [The RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/376990/cosmos-pas1786/details) describes its carmine-red bowl-shaped flowers, summer-to-autumn bloom and growing conditions. ## Garden Use The compact habit suits sunny borders, patio containers and grouped plantings where its deep flower color can stand out. Its stems also make a useful cut flower for informal arrangements. ## Growing Conditions Choose a sunny site with moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil. PanAmerican Seed recommends the compact Sonata series for containers, and the RHS profile supports full sun and free-draining soil. ## Maintenance Water during dry spells while allowing excess moisture to drain. Remove spent flowers to prolong the display, as the RHS recommends for this selection. Cut stems when flowers open for indoor arrangements.
