Sonata™ Purple Shades Cosmos

Sonata™ Purple Shades is the purple-flowered selection in PanAmerican Seed’s compact, upright Sonata cosmos series. Its product profile lists about 24 inches in height and 12–14 inches in width, with spring through late-summer bloom timing in the supplier’s crop guide. [PanAmerican Seed’s product profile](https://www.panamseed.com/products/019501382004389/cosmos-sonata-purple-shades/) confirms PAS1248700, the purple-shaded Sonata selection, upright habit, size, full-sun exposure and supplier bloom timing. [The RHS profile](https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/376128/cosmos-sonata-purple-shades-pas1248700-sonata-series/details) recognizes this exact trade selection and confirms its Asteraceae family. ## Garden Use Plant it in sunny annual borders, patio containers or repeated groups for a concentrated purple display at the front or middle of a bed. Its upright stems can also be cut for informal arrangements. ## Growing Conditions Choose full sun and moist, well-drained, moderately fertile soil. PanAmerican Seed recommends compact Sonata plants for small containers; this selection also suits annual beds where seasonal flowering is wanted. ## Maintenance Water during dry spells while keeping the soil free-draining. Remove spent flower heads to keep plantings tidy, and cut stems when flowers open for arrangements.
