About Propeller Plant

Propeller plant is an upright succulent with thick, flattened gray-green leaves arranged in opposing pairs and dense heads of orange-red to scarlet flowers. [Kew](https://powo.science.kew.org/taxon/urn:lsid:ipni.org:names:273137-1) treats Crassula falcata as a synonym of Crassula perfoliata var. falcata. Some references use var. minor for this plant; the narrow identity is retained rather than assigning its source rating to the whole species. [Singapore NParks](https://www.nparks.gov.sg/florafaunaweb/flora/5/0/5003) describes growth around 60 cm tall and recommends a freely draining cactus-style medium in sun to partial shade. Avoid stagnant wet roots. Older plants can become untidy; shorten stems or renew from cuttings. Give the foliage room to develop its distinctive form and remove spent growth as needed. The [San Luis Obispo County January 2014 plant list](https://www.slocounty.ca.gov/departments/planning-building/forms-documents/environmental-forms-and-documents/plants-information/county-approved-plant-list) explicitly names Crassula falcata in its Crassula notes and assigns F2. This source category identifies its most fire-retardant plants for the 30–70-foot band from a structure. It is not a guarantee against burning. The county conditions the rating on suitable soil moisture, avoiding crowding, removing dead material, separated planting groups and preventing ground-to-canopy fuel connections. The rating belongs to the named identity, without extending it to other species or cultivars.
