Crocosmia NOVA 'Dragonfire'

Crocosmia NOVA® ‘Dragonfire’ is a compact, upright selection with red flowers held above green foliage. Terra Nova lists a 24-inch plant height, 30-inch width, and 26-inch flower height, so allow a little lateral room around the clump while placing it near paths or the front of a sunny border. Its June–August flowering period adds color through summer. ## Growing Conditions Grow in full sun in average, well-drained garden soil with even moisture. Terra Nova gives USDA zones 7–9 and describes the plant as fast growing, deciduous, and suitable for mixed beds, borders, and sunny banks. The Crocosmia × crocosmiiflora background and NOVA® selection combine well with other sun-loving perennials. ## Maintenance Water regularly while the plant establishes and during extended dry weather. Remove spent flower stems if a tidier appearance is wanted, and leave healthy foliage until it naturally declines so the corms can store energy. In colder regions, follow local guidance for protecting corms over winter. Source: [Terra Nova Nurseries, NOVA® ‘Dragonfire’](https://www.terranovanurseries.com/product/crocosmia-nova-dragonfire/).
